We've been hesitating to visit Taal, not being sure that an Indian restaurant in the old Harvey's building would be all that great. We've been missing out, apparently, as this was the best East Indian food we've ever had. The service was very good-the only issue being the charming accent our server had. We had to wait a little while for the buffet to be ready, but it was worth the wait. We will return, definitely, to try the things we couldn't fit on our plates first time around!

My wife and I are originally from Vancouver...

My wife and I are originally from Vancouver, where Punjabi restaurants are plentiful. However, this restaurant is better than most of the Punjabi restaurants we've been to in Vancouver and Surrey. Unlike the Indian buffets in Vancouver, the food at this restaurant is nice and hot. Most of the Indian buffets in Vancouver generally have lukewarm food. The host, Lakhi was very friendly. If you like to order food from the menu, this restaurant also offers that. However, when he first started up, nobody in Brantford seemed to know how to order Indian food, so he had to switch from lunch only buffet to lunch and supper buffet. If you would like to try traditional Indian dishes, I would personally suggest the following: - alu gobi (alu means potato and gobi means cauliflower) - palak paneer (palak means spinach and paneer is an Indian cheese that has the texture of a firm tofu) - chili chicken (clay oven baked chicken (tandoori) with a nice, warm chili sauce) - butter chicken (tandoori chicken with a delicious chili/butter/cream sauce) - naan (unleavened flat bread, cooked in the clay oven) And as the Punjabis would say, 'Tee-kah', which means 'thank you'.

We first tried Taal for take out 3 weeks ago and have now dined in twice. The food is amazing. I have been to Indian Restaurants across Canada and my husband has been to them across the globe including ones in Punjab. This is by far the best Indian food either of us have had. The owners are fabulous and their service is impeccable. We will definitely be regulars, it is the best food in Brantford. Keep up the excellent work!

We have dined in Taal's numerous time and have...

We have dined in Taal's numerous time and have never been disappointed. The food is usually really good quality and taste that is incomparable to anything else in Brantford for Indian food (Taal's surpasses all of them!) The only dine-in issue we have had is the food has been cool-warm occasionally, which they corrected as soon as we told them and they had some inexperienced servers which made placing and ordering food off the menu difficult. We recently tried their lunch take-out and were very disappointed because the food was cold and the portion sizes were inadequate for $8.99. They were running low on Buttered Chicken and in each container we only got 3 ping-pong ball sized pieces, it was mainly the sauce. We have been to many Indian restaurants and many of them will let you fill your own take-out container with whatever you want (we prefer this as you can get more variety - like you would if you ate in at the buffet.) At Taal's, they allow you to select only 4 items to put into the take-out container and they fill the container. Our problem was that the food was cold and that they gave us a lot of rice and buttered chicken sauce compared to the amount of chicken. I would recommend Taal's for dine-in only. For service, food quality/quantity, value, etc.
