Paris: city of architecture, literature and fashion, the crucible from which so many political, scientific, philosophical and artistic movements have sprung. It was in the City of Light that Bui D. Thuy was born.
The day came when she had to have her eyes examined and learned she needed glasses. She was dismayed to discover she had only a few unique and unattractive frames from which to choose. She felt a surge of sadness welling up inside.
When Bui received her doctorate in optometry in 1993 from the University of Montreal, she said: "I told myself that the day I became an optometrist, I would change the world. It's so nice to see well through a beautiful frame."
