If hearing the word “tattoo” elicits images of sailor’s anchors and roving biker gangs, pop your head into Studio Mandrika and get a different view. “When I opened the studio, I wanted it to be more than a place you come to get tattooed; I wanted a gathering space where artists and tattoo enthusiasts could meet and get inspiration from each other,” confides Jorge Rulz, founder of the studio, where he has been leading a team of three fearlessly creative artists since 2010. “It is a collaborative space where creativity is our engine.”
Studio Mandrika specializes in custom tattoos, and is Montreal’s first to be 100 per cent vegan, guaranteeing that all materials used are free of animal by-products and animal testing. “One of our core values is highly personalized service. Our artists work in complete collaboration with our clients in order to create something that reflects their personality and meets their expectations, what they want their tattoos to express,” Jorge says.
