The Écomusée du Fier Monde, located in Montreal's Centre-Sud neighbourhood, holds an important place in an area that was brought to life during the Industrial Revolution. Housed in an architectural jewel of the 1920s — the former Généreux public bath— the Écomusée du Fier Monde is a museum of Montreal's industrial and labour history.
Founded in 1980, it showcases the working and living conditions of the area in the early 20th century to the present, and actively involves itself within the community.
Probably one of the most festive and welcoming Montreal museums, the Écomusée du fier monde on rue Amherst (near Berri-UQAM metro station) has set up shop in a former bathhouse and invites us to revisit the industrial revolution with its permanent exhibitions illustrating "the ups and downs of a neighbourhood." Central to its mission: education and participatory projects.
