Absolument exquis!

MIAM!

Disappointed!

I love Chuck Hughes and always use his recipes from the Food Network so I was super pumped to come here with my boyfriend our last trip to Montreal. Not sure if my expectations were too high, but I was dissappointed with the food. We ordered the lobster poutine and as far as poutine went it wasn't that great. The fries were undercooked and the gravy was ok. My entree was halibut and was kind of greasy. Our waitress, the restaurant itself and the drink of the day was great but everything else was just meh. Not sure I would come back here, especailly with the price tag.

Excellent atmosphere, food, service

On business in Montreal alone, I decided to eat at Garde Manger based on several great reviews. It didn't disappoint - the service was excellent, the food was stellar and the atmosphere was laid-back yet electric. You can't have a bad meal or a bad time here. Just not possible. Must visit for anyone under 50.

Back in 2011, chef Chuck Hughes won Iron Chef with his now-iconic lobster poutine. Garde-Manger, his Old Montreal restaurant, feels like an underground gourmet speakeasy of sorts, drawing everyone from the cool kids to the “foodies” with its seasonal, market-driven chalkboard menu.

Chef Chuck Hughes’ Garde Manger has been a staple in the heart of Old Montreal for locals and celebrities alike. Their ever-changing chalkboard menu is seafood heavy with favourites like jerk crab and their infamous lobster poutine. Garde Manger’s seafood platter will take you to seafood heaven, filled with scallops, oysters, lobster, crab legs, jumbo shrimp and homemade gravlax along with all the accoutrements to enjoy it with. After 11pm, things start to get rowdy, with a DJ spinning and people dancing, sometimes even on the bar ;)
