Trattoria Bacio has a distinctly cozy and welcoming vibe. It’s in no small part due to the love, friendship and respect between Mimmo and Marilena Lamanna, the husband-and-wife team who took over the café in 2014. “She’s charming and good-looking,” laughs Mimmo with affection. “She’s a very nice lady.”
While Marilena greets customers and makes them feel like one of the Lamanna family, Mimmo’s hard at work in the kitchen, preparing stone-cooked pizzas and Italian desserts. In the time that he and his wife have owned Trattoria Bacio, he’s noticed customers have strongly gravitated toward the margherita and quattro stagioni pizzas, with the latter being his personal favourite. “There’s a little bit of everything throughout the year,” he says. “That’s why it’s called ‘quattro stagioni’ – it’s the four seasons.” No matter what type of pizza diners order, it’s always made Italian-style with a thin crust and fresh toppings. “We try to make healthy food as much as we can, using good products, fresh products,” stresses Mimmo, “and good wine.”
