Food very bland. Sauces have no consistency like they’re watered down. O so bad.
I am new to SFs (3 yrs). Man Ling Restaurant is the only Chinese restaurant (except for 1 in Brockville) that I eat at, for a number of reasons: First all of their food is MSG-free, is fabulous and always fresh (nothing heated up from 2 hours ago). The best egg rolls ever and my favourite is beef and green peppers. I have eaten there over 25 times and it's always perfect. Hats off to Man Ling. Don't forget the service, relaxed and friendly staff. My favourite restaurant of all time (a 10).
Not great, overall. We just moved to Smiths Falls from Nepean, where we had a couple of local take-out restaurants that we really enjoyed. This is the first of the several Chinese Food places in the Falls that we've tried. I'm hoping that at least one of the others is better. Like one of the other reviewers, I too was disappointed by the fried rice (we had mushroom FR), which I found to be excessively greasy and minimally flavorful. I have done better--much better--myself at home. The egg rolls (closed end style) and veggie spring rolls were adequate, but only marginally better than grocery store products. My wife, who's a vegetarian, ordered a veggie stir fry and I ordered the dai dop voi. Both were pretty good... decent amount of tasty meats in the dai dop voi and a good mix of veggies in both dishes. The sauces were mild and not overwhelmingly good, but they weren't bad either. I would grudgingly go back if there's nothing better around, but I'm holding out hope that we'll find something more to our liking.
We have never been disappointed by the food or the service. The comments posted regarding the fact the fried rice is "white" not brown indicate a rather narrow point of view and taste. The food in this resteraunt exceeds the flavor and taste in many chinese resteraunts that we have been in over the years between. IT is "fresh" and lacks the overpowering gravy like sauces and flavors found in many chinese resteraunts - and this...is a good thing. If you are looking for the over breaded - faux chicken balls with lots of sticky sauce that many resteraunts offer - then manling is not for you. There food beats that! Often we are met with the manners we present - the service has never been unsatisfactory in this resteraunt.
I was so disappointed. First we were rudely told we were going to have to wait 30 minutes for our food. When we said we would then leave, all of a sudden the food was ready in 10 minutes. The restaurant MAYBE had 4 or 5 tables occupied! Fried rice was white and steamed with a few peas and blobs of chicken, sweet and sour chicken balls had very little chicken and the sauce was just sparingly poured over top. We did not even have enough sauce to finish them. The chicken chop suey was tasteless. As there is no immediate competition in the area I see why the quality and service is lacking.
Been going here for years, the old place and the new one. Our favourite place for Chinese, the food is always great and cooked perfectly. We mostly take out but always enjoy the times we eat there. Nice place and go later if you like karaoke :)
This is got to be the BEST chinese food in Eastern Ontario. I'll drive the extra mile for this restaurant. We make reservation, because it's always book. The chicken balls are out of this world! Fantastic wong tong soup as well. Little advice, the Lady owner needs to smile a little more to the patrons, obviously she's got something good going and would be nice to feel the welcoming in her Restaurant.
Great Place to eat. The Mixed Vegtables were excellent. This is a gem in Smith's Falls.
Best restaurant in Smiths Falls!!! Great taste and the freshes chinese food I have ever had. I've lived in Smiths Falls for years and this is by far the best restaurant in town. Service not so friendly, but the great food makes up for it.
The mixed vegtables are the best. The service was fast and friendly. Much nicer place than the old one. This is a secret in Smith's Falls. When the Smith's Falls Police get food from there you know it must be good. I will be back for sure.
