The food is wonderful perfect place to go on a date or just out with friends. The atmosphere and patio are great. The service could be better it's hit or miss some of the staff are friendly and efficient others I find a bit standoffish. Overall though a very good experience everytime.
My absolutely favorite restaurant in peterborough, Hot Belly Mama's has fantastic food, an excellent location, and adequate service. I say adequate becaus the place is often so packed that the wait staff are unable to be as attentive as excellence warrants - no fault to them, they do a great job with what they've got! I've gone in huge groups, as well as small. I've even been able to take-out small orders (usually the sweet potato fries, on my way home from work). The brews from the Olde Stone compliment the cajun fare admirably, and custom orders (such as orange and lemon juice mixed together) are provided with no fuss. Best place in town!
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Hot Belly Mama's, as usual. I think the key to keep in mind about this place is that there are certain things on the menu that are absolutely fantastic, and these are the things to order, and others that can be hit and miss. Shrimp carnivale, ribs, blackened chicken caesar salad, sweet potato fries, and corn soup are some of my faves and also the specials are usually quite good. The chocolate toffee square is very yummy as well. The service is great as long as you remember this is not a casual atmosphere and you'll get casual service!
This place has improved since my last review. The wait staff are more attentive and friendlier I have to admit. The food?? Still mediocre. The pulled pork was not what it used to be, it was very wet and no BBQ sauce was on the meat, probably watered down too much. The bun was not just a toasted bun but broke apart like a stale bun that had been toasted to hide that it was stale. This doesn't work, toasted means outside crunch, inside hot but still soft and moist. The bun was hard all the way through. The jambalaya and frites were great though. I know this restaurant is capable of better food quality. You've put work into better customer service from the wait staff, lets put some more work into quality control and food consistency I know you can bring back the glory.
Great location and decor, very friendly staff, excellent food! What else could you want?
