Cockroaches!!! So disgusting!!! Dont eat there its not worth it.
Found your restaurant online when searching for good places to eat in oakville. We stopped in for lunch just after 1 p.m. saturday. while there was a bit of a line, mit moved quickly and we were soon seated. We had the pear and butternut squash soup, a grilled chicken sandwich and blackened salamon salad. all of the food was exceptional! Staff was friendly and welcoming. we are very happy to have found the this jewel of a restaurant and look forward to our next visit. Well done!
Always VERY Good, Always Busy! It is CONSISTENLY Good. Which We Love. You can order something new, and it is always Fresh, and so Tasty! I love their Stone Oven Pizzas! and their Chicken Pecan Salads! Wine too is at a good price :-) Got to like that! Hubby likes to order a Soup and a Sandwich. Always is happy and full after we eat. Never Greasy! Never Feel "Gross" after the meal! Never. Staff is Friendly and Helpful Too. Just prepare yourself - it is one busy place!
Bread is great! I have been here a couple times. Everything I have tried has been tasty. They are friendly and wasnt too hard to find a table when we went for weekend lunch. The reviews complaining about ventilation i dont understand... there were 4 large ceiling fans and everything circulated fine. Plus there is nothing wrong with the place smelling like yummy bread. Worth the money definitely.
What can I say? I love food! Decided to drive out and try another sandwich the day after I reviewed Stoney's Bread Co. for the first time. This time I ordered the Curried Chicken sandwich and a side house salad (for the greens and to balance the curry flavour). The sandwich and salad arrived on seperate plates and I don't know if they were trying to be artistic in their presentation but the sandwich was like, right on the edge of the plate (??). The flavour and the size of the sandwich - for the $9 - was more than I expected - in a good way! The curry flavour is a bit overpowering, but with the side salad, I was able to eat almost half of it and bring the other half of the sandwich home for a late night snack. Will definately be back to try another sandwich. Should be interesting to see the weekend crowds!
I'd read many reviews of Stoney's Bread Company and just HAD to try it. My chance came today and I must say I was surprised to walk in to see a line almost to the door! That wasn't a problem. I grabbed a bouchre of the menu and spent the entire time debating between 5 different sandwiches. By the time I got to the cashier I'd decided to try the Blackened Salmon sandwich. Took my number and looked for a place to sit. Despite the long line, it was easy to find a place on the patio to sit and wait for my meal. Once it arrived, I was happpily surprised that it was a huge portion! The salmon was cooked to perfection, the mango salsa was divine and the guac on top of it was a nice addition. The salad on the side was so pretty and also delish! For $15, that was an amazing dish - both portion and taste-wise. I will definately be back there very soon to try the other sandwiches I'd been eyeing while in line!
I could eat at Stoney's everyday of the week. The food is always incredible, Staff are always cheerful and friendly, it's hardly a wonder that they were featured on Food Networks 'You Gotta Eat Here'. If it was an American restaurant I'm sure they would be featured on triple D as well. I almost always order the Sandwich of the day when eating in the restaurant as I have had every other sandwich on the menu and I am always blown away by the creativity and quality of the food. I also highly recommend getting the Florence St. sandwich or Nove if you're a first timer. I like getting the Roasted Red Pepper soup and using it as a dipping sauce.
Lamb Sandwich was Superb ! Love the idea of ordering AND being served !! I'm 76 , but when I go there I feel young again .
Stoney's reminds me of the great, casual restaurants of the US. If you are cheap, broke, or don't know good food you won't like this place. If you can't handle rustic, cafeteria style service you won't like this place either. Seriously it's great pizza and great salads. It should be featured in the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives." The food is so good we considered moving to that part of town! LOVE STONEY'S. WIsh I was eating from there now!
The food at this place is great but the cafeteria style of seating makes no sense and I probably won't be going back if I'm with my wife and child. We went in for breakfast with four adults and two infants right after the santa claus parade. We knew it was going to fill up so the women and the babies grabbed a table while myself and my friend got in line. The host lady came over and chastised us for sitting down before ordering!!! What does she think we're going to do with two babies??? #1 Stand in line with them? and #2 risk getting our food and having no where to sit? Yeah I don't think so. We ignored her but I felt like telling her we could leave if she wanted us to. The food is great but the way they seat people is uncomfortable.
Expensive but worth it. Homemade, fresh, gourmet sandwiches. Excellent! Great ambiance, short order style, so it's good for a fast lunch, or chill & relax with their excellent coffees.
You order at a counter and then sit down and wait for them to bring your meal, rather than having a waiter serving you right from the get go. So, it's pretty casual, which may suit some people more than others. I don't mind. Even if I did, I'd go there for the pulled pork sandwich! I've been there twice and had it both times. Both times I wished I was hungry enough to eat a second! Absolutely delicious.
As a consumer, I have eaten at stoney s and cannot say anything bad about the quality of their food. As someone who worked for them for all be it, 4 shifts, I can say that they are not the most upstanding when it comes to paying. I quit after the 4 shifts because I was not going to be able to fulfill their shift requirements and felt that I did it in a way that didnt put them out too much, They quickly turned on me and were belligerent and disgraceful and hateful. They dont want to pay me for the last 2 shifts that i worked and told me not to come back into their restaurant ever again. Im a single mother of a 12 yr old son that is disabled and need that money, I cant imagine why they feel the need to be so cruel and dishonest. they are very successful and should be thankful for the town of oakville for their ongoing support allowing them to thrive on this tough economy
I got a sandwich for $10+, big deal, nothing more to say, it's a sandwich, c'mon....won't go back....one more thing, can someone get this right, PLEASE add something with your sandwich order, a friggin pickle, a salad, onion rings, a soup, fries, something, too much, for far too much less. Ciao
Rarely, do I find myself in Oakville, but I find myself at Stoney's at the recommendation of friends who I was dining with. (Prior to my first visit, I did hear about Stoney's through shining reviews on this site.) When I arrived, place was really busy. Apparently, the etiquette is to order first at the counter, then find a seat. Luckily, there was an empty table after we placed our order. Dining is casual, but a server does bring your meal to you. Based on the reviews, I did order the Slow Roasted Lamb Sandwich ($10.50). Lamb was a bit lamb-y, but sauce - sweet balsamic reduction? - was DELICIOUS! Portion was pretty generous and I was surprised that I was able to finish the whole thing! I'm not usual a fan of lamb, so next time, I'll definitely order something else. After we were done, a friend rejoined the line in order to get dessert. A server spotted him and said, "Did you just want to get dessert?", gave him what he wanted, and said that he could just pay when he left. What business does that nowadays? I was pretty impressed by that. Server - can't remember if it was the same person - also asked if we wanted take-away boxes for some of the unfinished meals. So there was no need to flag anyone down which did add to the pleasant dining experience. Overall, I had a really good experience. Would definitely visit again if I was in the area! For any first-timers, I'd recommend you pre-ordering from their online menu 'cause standing there, starring at the menu, while the line continues to grow can be a bit overwhelming.
If you're looking for a nice, upscale place for lunch, that use unconventional and fresh ingredients, here you go. Very tasty and filling meals. My only complaint is that the tables are a little too close together.
i've been told Stoney's was a secret gem but i tend to visit the restaurants on the Lakeshore more. But Kerr Street isn't far an even if it is, it will be totally worthwhile. i was surprised that it was so small and that it was the style of place that you order at a counter and they bring your food to your table. The line at the ordering counter got really long mid-lunch hour, but it was quick and easy for us. the woman who took our order was enthusiastic and helpful. the portions were very large! my "sandwich" took up the whole plate and could only be attempted with a knife and fork. the ingredients were fresh and the bread (naan in my case) delicious. i would love to visit again and try another of the many vegetarian options on the menu.
No assistance for people with disabilities. I USED to frequent Stoney's on an almost daily basis - despite the fact they're really quite pricey, especially since it's "serve yourself" style. And they've also charged me for the soy I ordered in my latte, but made it with regular milk instead (hello, allergies!). However, as of today, I won't even get a coffee from them. I'm horribly disappointed in their owner and the way the staff handled themselves when it came to a request from a person with a disability. A senior in a wheelchair called them to asked if someone would mind running a sandwich upstairs for her, as they had done before. The answer - a rude no and a hang up. In fact, she was hung up on twice - once by the owner himself - after a conversation consisting of less than 1 minute each time. The senior then made her way downstairs. When she asked for a quick word with the owner in private, she was met - by him - with "I don't have time to talk to you" and "the person who did it before broke a rule and shouldn't have" before walking away from her. No kind explanation of why they couldn't run it up this time... no kind word at all. Since when is it okay for anyone to treat senior citizens like this, let alone someone with a disability who was asking for a little assistance and understanding? On principle alone, Stoney's will never receive any business from me again. The taste of good food is not worth the price...

Love the food at Stoney's. They have awesome salads and pizzas and honestly I've never had anything here that I didn't love. Also, as other people's food goes by, it looks awesome too. This has quickly become one of our favourite places to go. Excellent quality for reasonable prices!
