This Fine Restaurant is as Good as it gets! From the Out-standing owner, to the pleasant and wonderful wait Staff, I have never had anything but a delicious Meal!! Some dishes are Spicy but I like mine Mild! Either way----- Always Great!!!!! Enjoy.....!
I am surprised by the poor reviews. It is a bare bones kind of place, and the service is slow. However, I loved their coconut tom kha soup. It was as good as I have ever had it. Their drunken noodles were pretty good too. The price was reasonable.
Service was not good as we waited for a long time to order. The price increased since last time I went there. But food was not enough.
Bombest pho in Guelph.. I totally recommend this place, and If anyone plans on eating here I also recommend their bubble tea! Soo yummy
I just wanted to come on here to say that orgininally when Tom Yums opened 2 years ago under different management the food, service and quality was amazing. Within the last 6 months management has changed and it has become a poor excuse for vietnamese cuisine. 1)The prices have dramatically increased, (as you can see in the restuarant they changed with a pen on the menus) 2) the quality has gone down the drain, the pad thai ingredients are awful 3) the pho have all been increased by 2 dollars, and you literally get 2 slices of beef maximum. 4) now you have to pay for green tea are you kidding me? 5) I also noticed how dirty the restaurant has become i frequented this restaurant 3-4 times a week and the previous owner would always give me free appetizers and always make sure everything was up to par. Now the manager (the lady) is incredibly rude, does not look after her customers and tries to get you in and out asap. Even today a couple beside me asked for drinks at two different occasions and she never brought them there beverages. I encourage everyone to stay away from this restaurant!
I can honestly say this was the worst Pad Thai I have ever tasted. I normally love pad thai, but this one had a sickly sweet taste, the tofu was tasteless and undercooked, the noodles were soggy, and there was virtually no nuts or veg in it. The portion size was also hardly what I would call generous. The only good thing about the order was that it arrived at my house 10 minutes after I phoned (go figure). Needless to say I won't be ordering again!
After hearing about this place from a few sources, I thought it was time to try it out. We stuck to familiar dishes this time - ordered shrimp salad rolls, pad thai and green curry for take out. The portions were impressive, and the pad Thai was one of the best I've had around here. I must say that I really appreciated the choice of ingredients for the salad rolls, as they used mint instead of (or at least to supplement) the typical too-strong cilantro. Very nice. The green curry was the disappointing part. Bland, thin and no spice to speak of. The vegetables were fine, though a little scant, and the rice was alright. I certainly would not order a curry here again, but I would try some other noodle dishes and salads.
So I recently just heard about this viet-thai place a few days ago and all my coworkers were talking about it so I decided to bring the family yesterday for dinner! The place wasn't as big as I expected but it's a cute little cozy place to bring your family. It felt reallly welcoming, the servers and all were very very nice. And also the food tasted so FRESH. My family ordered a Tom Kha Seafood Soup and Mango Salad Platter as appetizers! I really love that peanut sauce they have for the Shrimp Rolls. SO TASTY. Then for our entrees my husband had the Singapore Chicken and Shrimp and I tasted some and it was simply AMAZING. They had the right amount of curry and it was a tad spicy but we like spicy so it was good. I had the Pad Thai Shrimp. MMM I love shrimp.. There Pad Thai sauce IS REALLY good the best Pad Thai I have ever had!! They didnt have bean sprouts in it and I was glad because I hate bean sprouts. My daughter tried the Red Curry Chicken with vermicelli noodles and she loved it! It could have been a little spicier if it were for me but it was packed with flavour. I think the next time I go I am going to try the Green one. And my son he had the Chicken Bites with rice. He's a picky eater but he loved the Chicken Bites. They had this sweet taste to it. Its chicken thats deep fried then stirfried with their special thai sauce!
I called to order some takeout noodle dishes on Sunday night around 8:30 p.m. When the girl picked up she took my order but them handed the phone off (with out saying a word) to another lady who I had to retell the order to. My boyfriend went to pick to up the order and bring it back home. He has the drunken noodle with seafood. The seafood okay, there was lots of it and a good vartiey. The noodles were over cooked, slimey and tastless. I had the singapore noodle with seafood. It was way to salty, and dry. They dumped way too much cayenne on it too. We will not be ordering from there again.. its too bad we live in the south end but can't find a decent asian place without drving to the other end of the city.
The place is a bit small when you first enter, but it was very warm and welcoming as the waitress greeted us and took us to our table. We had the creamy wonton for starters; it came with sweet dipping sauce and was very fresh as it was hot and the cream was rich. The proportions were fairly large for the price. I got the Pho while my wife got the vegetarian Pad Thai. The broth was fresh and very flavourful that I even finished the entire bowl. The Pad Thai came with mushrooms, broccoli, sliced carrots, green peas, and red peppers. When you first taste it, it is somewhat sweet but full of flavour leaving you wanting for more. This place is the best Viet-Thai restaurant my wife and I have been to and we highly recommend it to anyone who loves Viet-Thai cuisine.
Tried this place after reading good reviews, I would rather go to Bin. It's a small place and the food is just avarage; mango salad was great but pad thai was just average.
Everything was very fresh. Spring rolls weren't greasy, but crispy. Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle were very flavourful.
FOOOD: After cherry blossom/red papaya closed down on Gordon, me and my girlfriend had to find a new place for Viet and Thai food. We've always been a fan of Red Papaya and thought that was the best place for authentic viet and thai food, however we were proven WRONG. VERY WRONG. Tom yum by far has the BEST food that we've ever had. My girlfriend ordered the pad thai and I had the rice combo with grilled chicken and fried egg. I was surprised that the salad that came with it was steamed vegetables, but it was a pleasant surprise. I never ate the salad in rice combos cause it was plain and looked more like garnishing then actual food, but the sauce on the veggies were delicious!! The springrolls were crunchy and delcious, the veggie sauce that came with it were also amazing! One thing I like about these springrolls compared to anywhere else is they werent GREASY! Me and my girlfriend went to golden basil once, and the springrolls were sooo greasy it actually made a pool of oil and grease on the plate. I thought it was the fish sauce spilt on the plate. Thats how gross it was. Service: There were two girls waitressing when we went to Tom Yum, one girl helped us to our table, took our order and brought us the food. She was super sweet and made sure to check up on us often. The other waitress was busy cutting up the vegetables in the front, and looked hard at work. Atmosphere: The restaurant was smaller then most viet-thai restaurants that ive been to, and thats the only reason i gave 4 stars. It was also quite busy when I came in, and at first I thought ... I hope theres a table for us. But i guess being full isnt a BAD thing? Overall: i recommend anyone that havent tried tom yum to go and try it, i guarantee you'll love it as much as me and my girlfriend did! We'll definitely be loyal customers from now on.
I went to Tom Yum with a friend and ordered rice combination platter, chicken crispy noodles and Lychee Bubbletea. I thought that this place would be any other Viet and Thai restaurant but this place had something different. The presentation of both dishes looked amazing. That wasn't the best thing yet. The food absolutely tasted delicious. Although it had big portions, the price was worth it. I enjoyed the bubbletea and was happy that they had jelly in replacement of the tapioca bubbles. The service was very good. I also liked the idea of the vegetable bar. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys Viet and Thai Food.
My friends have been raving about coming here for the longest time saying its one of the best restaurant for Vietnamese and Thai food. I tried the food and wow am I impressed with my Pho. The broth was fresh and not too fatty which is hard to come by. I am going to come here from now on for my Pho. The service was great and the workers were very friendly. I like the arrangement of the place very much and the pricing is of the dish were very reasonable.
I visit Tom Yum at least once a week, sometimes even more. The mango fish is my favourite if you all can tell. If you havent had it. I SUGGEST YOU TRY IT. Its the best fish dish there. I always end up packing some home because their portions are so huge!!! Also, the girls that work there provide such good service. I love going with my husband its where we can spend our alone time. I also, would love to recommend the mango chicken, and mango salad. Oh gosh, I am just a mango lover! If you can tell. I just wish they would have maybe some sort of desserts. Something with mango of course!
I went with my buddies, and when we first got in, it was pretty packed but the service was so fast! It was like a 3 minute wait for each of the food and there Bubble tea is so good! If you wanna try a good Thai restaurant, this is what your looking for.
I went with a couple of my girlfriends and when we first walked it smelt so good. They have a very different concept than other restaurants. All their vegetables are placed in the front and you get to see them prep the food for you. The service was GREAT and the food was marvelous! The fresh shrimp rolls are so delicious especially with that peanut sauce they make by themselves. I always get extra peanut sauce because it's so tasty!! The pad-thai house is the best dish. Out of all the Guelph restaurants I've tried I think that...Tom Yum makes the best pad-thai sauce.. PAD THAI LOVERS should definitely try this dish mmmm. I just can't stop thinking about there bubble teas! TARO!
While we've only had take out, every time it has been hot and delecious. All flavours are full and distinct with very fresh ingredients. We especially love the mango platter in the summer along with a traditional pad thai. Spring rolls are great also. The restaurant does not serve alcohol which is too bad, so take out works well with a beer at home.
