Growing up in Saskatchewan, Amanda Beisel initially thought her calling in life was to help disenfranchised and marginalized individuals. After obtaining her BA in Psychology, she went to work for Calgary Family Services. “I quickly realized I was in the wrong occupation," Amanda explains. "I knew I wanted to work with people, I just needed to find a different capacity to do so.”
Taking a break from youth work, she travelled to Korea for one year to teach English, and it was there that she found her true calling: Eastern medicine. “In Korea discovered alternative ways to care for your health and well being,” she explains. Once she returned to Canada, Amanda studied Chinese medicine at the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver. From there, she went to California to learn about Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture.
Amanda launched SKN Holistic Rejuvenation Clinic in 2008. Based in Yaletown, the business began as a health centre focused on cosmetic acupuncture and facials, but it soon morphed into an award-winning clinic offering a variety of services. SKN is said to be the only clinic of its kind in Vancouver; the multidisciplinary clinic fuses the ancient art of Eastern medicine with modern North American medical aesthetics and skin treatments.
The SKN Holistic Rejuvenation Clinic is one of the best examples of a combination laser hair removal clinic and day spa. Sure, they offer laser hair removal on its own, but why not take it up a notch with one of their package deals? Each package can turn your laser hair removal session into a full-on pampering experience, including acupuncture and microdermabrasion. SKN will leave you feeling silky smooth and relaxed, just like a day at the spa.
