It's been tweezed, waxed, creamed and lasered, and yet the problem of unwanted hair has not gone away. Certified electrologist Evelyn Geatros, owner of Vancouver's Fairview Electrolysis Clinic and a 35-year industry expert, knows unequivocally the only permanent treatment to eradicate this nuisance hair follicle is electrolysis; any other procedure is a marginal, temporary solution.
Self-admittedly, she got into the industry by fluke. On a whim, a friend signed her up for the aesthetics program at Vancouver Community College, despite the two-year waiting list. Within six months, she was offered a last-minute spot, contingent on quitting her job and the ability to start immediately. Evelyn resigned from her hostess job at Vancouver's Cloud 9 Revolving Restaurant to enroll; halfway through the one-year program, her instructor, Dagmar Kuster, inaugurated the electrolysis program, which required 12 students interested in specializing.
Evelyn earned two certifications upon graduation in 1983, and shortly thereafter, became certified by The Association of Professional Electrologists Of British Columbia (TAPEBC). She's currently a board member of the Canadian Organization of Professional Electrologists (COPE NATIONAL).
