Ashraf Ahmad’s passionate food journey began when he was just 12 years old. His parents opened a restaurant in Lebanon where he was taught Lebanese cooking skills the authentic way. Immigrating to Canada in 2001, Ashraf brought with him the family recipes and opened an establishment similar to Jerusalem Grill in Montreal with a partner before deciding to head west. He soon discovered that the Lower Mainland restaurant scene was lacking traditional Middle Eastern fare.
“Whatever you order here is the exact same, if not better, than what you would get dining in the average restaurant in the Middle East,” says Ashraf proudly.
The combination of traditional food, the finest fresh ingredients and charismatic hospitality has made Jerusalem Grill a destination for many since 2011. “Those familiar with Middle Eastern cuisine come to us from a distance, and those who have been introduced to the cuisine here, they still come to us from a distance. Lots of families travel from different cities on the weekends to come and dine in the restaurant, so that shows we’re doing something special,” says Ashraf.
