Another Whyte Avenue hotspot is DaCapo Caffe. Indulge in an Italian-style espresso and meander along this popular street that spans 7.2 km. Just think – walking the avenue one-way will hatch almost 1.5 Pokémon!
There might not be a better, no-fuss place in town for traditional Italian espresso and gelato. Whyte Avenue may be best known for its nightlife, but Da Capo gives you a reason to come by earlier in the day. Owner Antonio Bilotta is obsessive about both his espresso and gelato and you can taste it. The pistacchio gelato rivals the best in Italy. From Wednesday through Saturday, Da Capo is open until 9 p.m. and their tight wine and craft beer selections make it a great low-key hangout spot.
This Italian espresso bar scoops out premium gelato by the bucketful (OK, not really, but I wish). But this icy Italian treat is made in-house at Da Capo, so it probably wouldn’t be too hard to get your hands on an actual bucketful of it. They do serve it not only by the scoop but also in one litre containers, so plan to stock up. In the meantime, enjoy a Caffe Affogato – gelato and espresso making a sweet, caffeinated baby in your cup.
