Today was the first day I had been there in years, and things have changed... For the better :) I took my children there so they could see the streetcar like I did when I was younger. All of the staff was warm and welcoming, the streetcar was closed when I arrived but they overheard my childrens disappointment and opened the doors just for us. We were served promptly, and our food was ready in no time. Which I know for me is important when you take out your kids cause they can be soo impatient. My burger was cooked just the way I like it and my cheese was actually melted on which doesn't always happen in the fast food business. The onion rings were a little different than what I remember but they had a good combination of a crisp outside and a soft batter inside. My kids had more of my shake then I did but they seemed to love it lol. I will deffinately be goin back this summer on my way tothe cottage, it's so worth waiting for. Oh. Before I forget, parents be warned they don't have kids burgers, only nuggets which I thought were actually a great portion size. Oh and they're a cash only business they have an ATM, the only annoying thing about stopping in was the people in front of me in line didn't see the signs that clearly say cash only and held every one up. Interesting and varied new menu items highlight a new season in this well-established eatery. The three-course Friday night special I had was truly wonderful, exciting, flavourful food. A mesclum mix was restrained by slices of cucumber, sliced lengthwise and curved to form a holder for the leaves, the whole drizzled with a piquant apple-based vinagrette. The pork tenderloin entree was three large pieces stuffed with a savoury dressing that was so tasty and plentiful that while I finished the pork, I took the rest of the stuffing home. Dessert was a chocolate/caramel custard in a crunchy pastry shell, topped with fresh strawberries and blackberries. Portion size gave good value for the price which was reasonable for the quality. Presentation throughout was as artistic as any classy place in Toronto but the outstanding things about the meal, to my mind, were the number of homemade items (dressing, stuffing, pudding, pastry) and the commitment to flavour everywhere. I visited Swiss Chalet with low expectations. My four year old son was excited about the toys they offered so we went for a quick dinner. I was pleasently surprised. We sat with a young waitress who I unfortunatly also held low expectations for. At such a young age I doubted that she knew much...however she provided us with better service than we had recieved in a chain..maybe ever. She brought our meals promptly, was attentive, we didnt need to ask for refills, and when my son spilt on himself, she cleaned it all up and even stopped his crying. The food wasn't great, but as long as you have service like that, I would be back anytime. Read more

The portions are huge definitely a man sized burger. Fries and onion rings too. I have never seen such huge onion rings before. Beer battered and fantastic.
