I came here for lunch a few months ago and was very impressed. We arrived just as the place opened up; the upstairs dining area had not been opened yet. Regardless, I asked if we could have a table on the upper level and the wait staff accommodated our request and opened up the upstairs area and we were given the option to have our choice of any table we wanted. We chose a table on the North side of the restaurant with a great view of the By-ward Market. My burger tasted a little dry but as I had never tried buffalo or bison before I didn't know if that was normal or not. It was relatively busy on a Wednesday afternoon at 1p.m-a good sign. We had the haddock and chips-excellent -with crispy fries, good tiny coleslaw and yummy tartar sauce, lemon wedge. We wandered around Ottawa for an hour before randomly selecting Fat Tuesday's. We heard the piano playing and just had to go see what it was like. The restaurant looked great and the piano was excellent background music. We started our meal with the alligator and it did not disappoint. Afterwards we got the proscuitto wrapped chicken. They had a slight issue with some of the chicken being undercooked, however, it was quickly fixed when it was brought to their attention. When we received the cooked meal we found that it was definitely worth the wait. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Despite the small problem we would recommend this restaurant to friends and family and will probably go back. Read more
