Restaurants for Change is a charity event that sees some of the country’s best restaurants donate a portion of their earnings to support local food programs. Toronto is getting in on the action this year with more than 30 participating restaurants. We rounded up the best restaurants to check out during Restaurants for Change October 18, 2017. Vegans who want to donate to the cause should check out Planta. The restaurant’s menu is completely plant based and includes the famous Planta Burger. Planta’s food is so good, that meat-eaters have been flocking to the Yorkville location, and they now have a restaurant dedicated to the plant-based burgers on Temperance.
This east-end restaurant opened in 2016 and has been packed ever since. October 18 is the best time to enjoy the elevated pub food. Chef Jesse Vallins focuses on creating dishes that showcase local ingredients. This makes Maple Leaf Tavern the perfect spot to show your support of local food programs.
Taiwanese snacks and a good cause are always a great combination, and that’s why Kanpai Snack Bar is the perfect place to dine during Restaurants for Change. Enjoy the authentic small plates, including the famous O.G. Bao, alongside one of the Ontario brewed sakes.
Beast is known for its inventive menus and delicious eats fit for a carnivore. The King West restaurant is sure to be a unique dining experience for everyone. Take advantage of Restaurants for Change and try the gnocchi poutine or chevre noir.
Grant van Gameren shows no signs of slowing down his restaurant empire. PrettyUglyBar is a causal bar that has the Parkdale residents buzzing. The bar is designed like a mezcaleria and the bartenders are always there to explain the Mexican-inspired cocktail menu.
Victor Barry’s Piano Piano is the perfect spot to give back if you have little ones! The Piccolo Piano rooms and kid’s menu allows kids to eat and have fun at the same time. If you want authentic home style Italian food in The Annex, Piano Piano is the place to go!
Richmond Station has never shied away from contributing to the community, so it’s a no brainer that it’s the perfect restaurant to check out on October 18. Known for the delicious Station Burgers, you can now chow down on the famous burger for a good cause.
South American restaurant Baro is always the life of the party. Serving authentic South American cuisine, it’s giving back to the food community one plate at a time. Baro is divided into three sections – dining room, Pablo’s snack bar and The Loft.
Trendy and always packed, dining at Bar Raval is a fun experience, plus a pay-it-forward element, why wouldn’t you want to head out to the College Street bar on October 18? The bar is part of the van Gameren empire, and is known for its cured meats and small plates. There are also pastries in the morning.
