North York’s Petit Potato has lunch and main menus filled with Taiwanese dishes like deep fried tofu with satay sauce and pork cutlet omurice with spicy curry sauce, but it’s the Golden Toast series that has been making waves in Toronto. The Golden Toast Series compromises of sweet toast piled high, and smothered in toppings like ice cream, marshmallows and strawberries. La Carnita has been paying close attention to its dessert menu for the past couple of years. Jen Agg’s The Black Hoof is known for its unique offerings of charcuterie, but the dessert menu is worth saving room for. Currently The Black Hoof is offering a carrot cake with a side of foie gras. The pairing may seem a little odd, but the flavours work perfectly together, with the foie gras adding richness to the delicious carrot cake.
Fonda Lola keeps the fiesta going straight though to dessert! The Mexican restaurant fuses Mexican flavours into the seasonal dessert menu that has included tequlia lime cheesecake and Oaxaca cheese flan. The churros, served with Mexican caramel and whipped cream, have become a staple at the Queen West restaurant.
The stand out on Scaramouche’s dessert menu is the famous Coconut Cream Pie. The pastry holds smooth coconut custard, which is then topped with white chocolate shavings and dark chocolate sauce. If coconut isn’t you’re thing, there are lots of other options, like the Valrhona Chocolate Tart and the daily selection of house made ice creams.
