“Since we opened Qui dort dîne, we’ve been concentrating on quality products that provide excellent value. We shun trends in order to stock linens that will stand the test of time and the passing of fancies,” says Muriel Rajaonina. Muriel runs this Plateau boutique, which specializes in household textiles, with partner Gaëtan Larochelle.
“Nowadays, linen and other natural fibres are very popular and are sold everywhere," says Muriel. "We’ve been selling these products since the very beginning; back in the day, people sought out the convenience and washability of polyester; we would take the time to explain natural fibres to shoppers, their properties and their health benefits — for example when it comes to bedding. Today, I see the results of our sowings.”
Muriel maintains that when it comes to household textiles, natural fibres are the best option, and she’s noticing customers returning to them after years spent draping themselves in synthetics. “You really do sleep better on these textiles, and they’re more resistant, better made,” she adds.
