Molivos Restaurant opened its doors in 1980 on Park Avenue. The owners named the restaurant after their home town of Molyvos in Greece. In 1987, Maki and his brother, the owner's two sons, took over the family business and moved the restaurant to Guy in downtown Montreal. It was the bustling area that attracted them to this street. Today, their clientele consists of students, teachers and members of the Concordia University administration.
In fact, Maki himself is a graduate of finance at Concordia, but at the end of his studies he decided to change fields to join the family business. Since then he has never looked back. "I never thought I'd still be here 27 years later," he says.
