Serial entrepreneur Cherif Habib was working in Montreal’s Old Port when he noticed that it was a challenge to get a quick, healthy, and affordable lunch, so he started a company that would offer just that.
In April of 2014, FreshMint went live, delivering delicious and wholesome meals to Old Port offices and residences. There was just one problem: orders were merely trickling in. So to spread the word, Cherif and his business partner, management consultant and fellow entrepreneur Daniel Perel, hit the web. They blogged about their suppliers, published food-related info and interviews and shared about the company's progress on their social networks. They asked for customer feedback and posted it all, good and bad, to their blog, then refined their menu and operations based on the comments. As the community grew, so did the company. By the summer of 2014, thousands of Montrealers had joined FreshMint's email list and the service was delivering hundreds of meals a day to area professionals who wanted delicious and affordable meals in minutes.
This small establishment located on Commune Street West offers a Moroccan lamb burger, made from a lamb patty (duh!), to which cumin, paprika, garlic and cilantro are added. This is then topped with a yogurt and mint sauce, homemade harissa paste and fried shallots.
