Come taste a delightful dish at The Merchant Ale House. They are open nightly all week and are readily reachable by bicycle. Come visit them in a location recognized as lively and can pay by MasterCard and Visa.
I kept hearing about the Merchant from people I worked with and friends and somehow never got there til this year.
Paradise!
Comprehensive selection of beer types and styles with servers who know what they are talking about .
Best fries anywhere even if they do resemble, but I digress.
Four visits and no complaints.
The menu is kept small to good effect.
More than enough variety for a pub with beer this good.
Quality of food is always high.
I generally get a few apps and they are shared around the table then one or two mains each with a sampling of beer to match the food.
Servers are always able to suggest the right combo.

Everything was really tasty, great portions, and fair prices. Service was always with a smile, and very helpful when trying to pick a beer...there are so many to choose from! overall a great night.

Great spot for a beer lover who is tired of the traditional big beer company swill.
Merchant brews a number of their own beers plus the carry a number of Ontario Craft brews which I find to be very good.
Typically a younger crowd, but the experiance was good.
Will be back again.
We waited over 45 minutes for our refreshments- we went up to the bar 3X trying to get them. Dinner took over an hour and a half to arrive- again we made repeated visits to the server requesting our dinner.
This is the place to go in the city for beer. They make their own inn house you can actually see the brewing tanks and equipment. They make great beers and also have about 13 different microbrews on tap. The food was good as standard pub food, well made, good portions. The staff were very casual and very frindly. If you like unique beers this is a must visit in Ontario.
