Sheila Hash, co-founder and lead developer at Mediavandals, is excited about the future of the web. “The way we interact with the Internet has changed dramatically in the past few years,” she says. “And the things I’m seeing that will be commonplace in the future are going to change everything all over again.” In 2009 and with these changes in mind, Sheila and her business partner Brandon Heard founded Mediavandals, a web development and design agency that can help people harness the power of the Internet now and into the future.
Mediavandals started within the local music scene where, as a web developer and designer, Sheila saw that artists needed help with the rapid changes in the industry.
“Musicians have a specific set of needs," Sheila says. "We noticed that not a lot of web companies understood those needs. The music industry has changed; you no longer get a big recording contract and just focus on touring and making music. As a musician, you need to handle many other aspects and keep a connection with your fans as well."
Mediavandals helps musicians do just that. “For our clients, the challenge is to create a connection with those the fans to get people invested in their music and brand. That’s where we can help, by creating a plan to bring musicians and fans together online. From there, we’re pretty confident that they can keep people listening. That’s their specialty.”
