Hired Prep-Tech to soda blast bottom of my sailboat to remove multiple coats of anti-fouling paint. Was assured they were experienced in this area. The boat has now suffered extensive damage which will necessitate a very expensive total epoxy bottom job with an additional 8 coats of barrier paint to repair the damage as much as it can be.
Their compressor broke 3/4 into the job, so they returned the next day.
After pointing out the damage and asking that they do it like the they had shown me at the start, they slowed down, turned down the pressure and the last 1/4 of the job was much more satisfactory which proves to me that they knew what to do, but were not prepared to do it beyond a small sample area.
They were also quite messy and did not tarp out the area as promised. Supervisor had indicated he would come first day and get them going and start the job so he understood requirements.
He never came either.
The repair job will cost 3 times what the blasting cost me. I saved no time or money by using this company and would have been better to sand the bottom myself in terms of time, money and ultimate condition of my boat.
Preptech makes every effort to leave our job sites cleaner than when we arrived. In the period surrounding this review we were performing Graffiti removal in Vanier and preparing a pool for painting in Limoges. I would certainly like to hear more about this complaint. We are a customer oriented business and take customer service very seriously. Additional information will allow me to prevent recurrence of this nature.
