Very Pricey, Very small portions
At the Headwinds restaurant at the Millcroft Inn, we ordered a flat iron steak as a main course ($27) and a duck ($23), a goat cheese starter, a dark chocolate dessert, and one espresso coffee. Total bill $95. We do not mind paying $95 for lunch, but we should at least get enough to eat. My steak consisted of three very thin slivers of meat (seemed to be less than 2 ounces, looking like thin slices of chicken tenders), very artfully decorated, four teeny-weeny cherry tomatoes, and two measly pieces of asparagus. I left the table hungry. To be fair, the steak tasted good. The duck was also a tiny portion. But it was undercooked, very tough, and too chewy. If this is what passes for fashionable cuisine these days, it is not for us. We left Headwinds hungry. My wife and I had to buy a sandwich at a nearby pub immediately after we had eaten a lunch worth $95. Of course we felt cheated. We will not visit again. The only redeeming feature was the service. Our server, Erin, was very helpful.
