By Kanata standards, this is a descent restaurant and previous visits were good. This time however, the service from the hostess to the waitress was sub par. We expect to see a smile on the face of the staff when they serve us but clearly these were not happy campers. The Pasta Pasquale was good though. Will take my business elsewhere.
I'd heard about the gluten-free pizza and pasta at Fratelli's and their Barrhaven location in the former Tuscan Villa appealed so a friend and I went for lunch: big disappointment. I had the special pasta of the day which was Italian sausage, tomato and olives in a pesto cream sauce. The only GF pasta available is penne (c'mon, guys) and it's corn which isn't that great for you. Anyway, the sausage was one very dry link, there were no tomatoes and four of the teeniest olives I have ever seen, over clumped penne. $17 for what I figure was maybe $2 worth of food.
Nice touches on their meals. Portions are not over sized, which is good if you don't want to overeat! I've had veal parmigiane (sp?) and the salmon with some unique sauce. The vegetables have been spectacular both times and like I said before, the presentation is pleasing. The house wine (by the glass) is decently priced and quite good. It is a bit pricey though. I would only go back for a very special occasion with my husband. It is a very romantic atmosphere. I am looking forward to going again.
Food was decent to good - not spectacular. Service was average. Table location was very cramped and right beside bathroom, everyone that walked by seemed to knock our table. I would say it was pricey considering the "overall" experience.
Absolutely love this place. Service is always great, food is excellent. They're constantly changing the menu which I find a great idea. If there's a dish you've eaten before and it's not on the new menu, they'll make it for you. They have an excellent wine list. I would recommend this to anybody. If you know Italian food, then you'll appreciate this place. I guarantee their sauce is not Ragu like some of the restaurants who claim to be authentic Italian restaurants. I guarantee the authenticity of their cuisine.
I was not happy with my roast chicken at all. It was overcooked and dry. The vegetables were a combination of overcooked (mushy) and undercooked (too firm in the middle). I mentioned this to the waitrees and she returned to tell me it was fine. My date did enjoy her sweet potato ravioli. This was my second disappointing visit to Fratelli. On a previous visit they couldn't get us out of there fast enough. They didn't ask to refill our wine, and asked us if we were ready for dessert while we were still eating. When I commented they they seemed to be rushing us, the waitress responded by saying they were so busy and people were getting anxious at the door. We were there a total of 55 minutes, we skipped desert. I won't be going back.
I've been there 3 times, The food has been great 2 out of 3 times. I really enjoy eating their food however the seating is way too tight. It's hard to have intimate conversations when strangers are sitting less than 2 feet away. Excellent food but poor table arrangement.
This is one of the best places I have been to in along time. The food was fabulous! Service was excellent and would I go there again....you betcha!! I am even considering buying gift certificates as presents so other can experience the great food and service.
I have been to Fratelli's twice now and I didn't like it either time, nor did the people I was with. I would definetly not try this restaurant again.
While my salmon was great (I always order it when I'm there) three in my party had the chicken parmisan, and couldn't finish their meal because it was so disgusting. The chicken was chewy, stringy and spongy, the side of spaghetti was alright though. Our server was the same as the last time we were there, and she was again excellent, although the owner is always less than pleasant. Fratelli's has the best cheesecake I have ever eaten!
The owner was imaptient, rude and arrogant....we were exactly 6 minutes minutes late for an 8:30pm reservation and his comment was "I gave away your table 5 minutes ago, Look around does it look like I need your business".......we were in no rush so we had a glass of wine in the bar area where they forgot about us for an hour. After finally getting a table, Service was slow, additional beverages were non existant and food was not really worth the wait.
Martini's For our meals the 3 of ordered from the specials and even with many food allergies we all found something great! Pasta, Chicken, Fish and Deserts! Fratelli's is where we go to celebrate a special event or just for a nice evening out.
Great dinner, good service, super bread and dipping oil! We had a great dinner, a tad pricey but you know that going in. Fabulous..we love going there! MM MM GOOD!
Loved the atmosphere. Food was ok. No one out of the 4 of us thought it was exceptional. Same with dessert. Service was only ok.
This restaurant is great. As one of my friends so eloquently put it... "bring your wife here, and you will be a hero". Seriously, this is a great place. We went on a very busy night, and even though the place was packed, service was great and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommended.

This family-owned restaurant started out with two fratelli (brothers) and their parents running the kitchen and dining room at the original Glebe location in 1996. The family restaurant ambiance persists with family photos covering the beautiful brick walls. You’ll love the tasty wood-burning oven pizzas like the Roberto with mixed wild mushrooms, mozzarella, parmesan, porcini mushroom, pancetta and black truffle aioli.
