Won't return again. Recently, upon arrival as I sat, my server told me that I couldn't bring my reusable to-go cup into the restaurant. Was I to get up, dump the contents, and come back??? I think not, how rude! Next, when my breakfast order came, I immediately saw something wrong with it and told the server, but she told me that she couldn't take it back, and she would have to charge me for anything changed. Worst service ever!!! Plus hasn't changed since 1932, not appealing anymore folks
First time at this restaurant and last time! The food was below average. I ordered a mushroom omelette. The mushrooms tasted like they may have been canned. The 'Spanish sauce' was no more than tasteless gravy for which I had to pay extra. The home fries tasted like boiled potatoes with a little browning. My wife had a hot liver sandwich of which she left about seventy percent. The service was average. What a disappointment.
My son and I ordered the Russell Burger & my daughter and wife ordered a Quich & Chicken Breast dinner. Food was well perpared and good quality. They used real cheese on the burger and potatoes weren't rozen. Excellent portion. Only con is the atmosphere and the lighting.
My family and I were looking for somewhere for Sunday Breakfast - a lot of my friends suggested to try Russell Williams - boy were they right - we had a great breakfast and the price was great. We'll be back for sure !!
I ordered an all day breakfast item. It was plenty of food for a good price. friendly staff and quaint atmosphere. Very quiet which is great for conversations.
Plain food in a plain restaurant on Plains Rd. By plain food I mean good solid home cooking a plate full of hardy tasty food not nouvelle cuisine.
Just down right great breakfast... not sure how good their other food is but we frequent here at least once a month for awesome bacon and eggs... Go try them out!
So Russell Williams is definately nostalgic looking, and I understand that it is a landmark restaurant -- I actually vaguely remember advertising for it when I was young -- if that's at all possible. I wouldn't say it is the cleanest restaurant I've been in, but wouldn't have one bad thing to say about the food. If you are in the mood for comfort food or something that "sticks to your ribs", it is for sure the place to go. And given the line up out the door during parts of the day, I would say many people feel that way. Huge portions, great prices, friendly wait staff.
This place is always busy - lined outside the doors on weekends and there is reason why. The food and service are great. This restaurant is very organized, the food is very tasty, portions are generous and the quality is always consistent. It never disappoints. It's a landmark restaurant!
Where do i start. When we sat down in our section, we were pushed off to another server. our first server was the women with strawberry blond hair she refused to look at us let alone ask if we would like a coffee but continued to seat and serve the tables beside, in front, and behind. 20 mins later the server from the opposite section came over to us. she was polite but not the best we have ever had It took another 20 mins for our food to come out. What we ordered was not that hard. I ordered there classic breakfast /w bacon. The potatoes were mushy and greasy, the over easy eggs were more like over hard. The rest was standard. the second meal was a club sandwich. The meat was dry and tasted old. for a family restaurant my family really did not feel welcome If your ready for some sub-par food. Eat there. You get what you pay for!
This is one of our favourite breakfast places in Burlington and we have taken our family and friends here several times. They serve delicious huge pancakes, hashbrowns are just yummy and the portions are generous. I am actually saying to forget the atmosphere and old building and focus on the food and friendly service. You won't be disappointed.
I've always enjoyed eating here. The food and service are exceptional. I'm probably there 5 - 6 times a week. All the watress' know my order, and always take the time to chat. Whether I'm there alone, or with my family, it's always the best breakfast.
I had to comment on the previous review - I don't know what this person is talking about - Russell Williams does not even have souvlaki on the menu. Perhaps his mistaken as to where he was !!!! Nor does Russell Williams charge 2.25 for a cup of coffee (its actually 1.40 for a bottomless cup). Perhaps this disappointed customer should actually find out where he was first- and review that restaurant accordingly. signed happy russell williams customer...........
I have to say that without a doubt, I have never had such a bad dining experience in Burlington. The diner is a total dive inside- it screams "I am too cheap to redecorate". The food was pretty terrible but the portion size made up for it. The souvlaki I had was smelly, overcooked, small and expensive. The greek salad that came with it had iceberg lettuce and 1 olive on top. My partner's all day breakfast was pretty greasy. The plate was piled high with cheap ingredients (lots of carbs) and covered in grease and salt. Looking at the patrons in the restaurant they don't care about quality, its all about portion size and filling up on carbs! Our coffee tasted like it had been in the pot since 1975 so I asked the server to bring us a fresh cup ($2.25 for a tiny lousy chipped cup). This request brought on some angry greek shouting from the kitchen, as a result I have never had so many cold stares from the owner/manager in a restaurant before.
Went during weekday, had the Bacon & Egg Special. Coffee was always topped off and hot, breakfast was great. The best value for your money!!!
We always order take-out because we like to eat at work but the food is always steaming hot and the portion sizes are amazing. This place makes a great Breakfast!
This place was just ok. The food was very typical, homefries were really good, service was not the greatest. Just from the look of the place, we almost didn't go in (little bit of a dive). However, I'm willing to go back.
We come in every day - everyone knows us - we have tried other places, but always come back to where it is the best.............
I loove the food here.Im come often and i love it wouldnt change a thing. The waitress Tiana is the BEST.
Parking's tough yes, but I would walk a mile to get the best homefries ever. You can get everything else in other restaurants, but the homefries are unbelieveable. Lots of places offer HF on their menu, but invariably its french fries in various shapes and forms. When asked how they make french fries the answer obviously is "In the deep fryer" and then when asked how these fried nuggets of yakky tasting potatoes were done the answer is "In the deep fryer", so pray tell how can you call them 'HOME FRIES" ... THEY ARE FRENCH FRIES!!!...:Well, that's the way we make them" they say, and that's why I never go back, so Russel Williams, don't ever change the home fries!!! "Scotty' our fav Waitress keeps your cup full and gives the place that homey athmosphere we like. Toast is good too. Now do something about that parking, eh?
