We focus on finding suppliers who care for kids as much as we do. If it's not good enough for our own children to play with, then it's not good enough for our customers. We offers a wider selection of eco-friendly, educational toys, games and puzzles for the young and young at heart. We are also happy to offer a great selection, unique experience and excellent customer service in our online shop. At our stores, you can find toys that are made locally in Canada as well as produced in a smattering of European countries. Unlike your typical big box store, we strive to provide toys that will engage your child and provide a high level of play value.more...See more text
When Joanna Mileos was looking to transition out of her 20-year broadcasting career she was exploring what would come next for her. So when she discovered that the original owner of the Granville Island Toy Company was retiring she jumped at the chance to take on the business, after all, she'd shopped there as a child and was a huge fan. That was in 2007, and 10 months later she and her husband, Craig Hartman, opened a second location of the iconic store on Main Street at 17th.
Now in its 30th year, the Granville Island Toy Company consistently claims “best of” awards, most recently winning the Vancouver Courier's “Stars of Vancouver” award for Best Toy Store for 2014. Known for their carefully chosen collection of everything from party favours to games and puzzles, toys and more, the Toy Company is stocked with everything you could hope for. But for Joanna the fun is in the hunt. “I love looking for that 'wow' toy, like discovering Magformers,” she says of the hugely popular construction sets. “It's always fun shopping for toys!” If their awards are anything to go by, it would appear that two generations of Vancouver toy shoppers agree.
Not just on Granville Island, the Granville Island Toy Company offers two additional outposts in Vancouver – one in Marpole and one in Mount Pleasant. The well-regarded shop specializes in toys that encourage more open-ended and imaginative play. You’ll find dolls, games and plenty of playthings for babies, toddlers and right on up to tweens. If you’re putting together loot bags for a birthday party, check out the well-stocked pick-and-mix area with lots of fun little knicknacks. And if you’re looking for Playmobile, they have a very large selection at their Main Street store.
