Born and raised in India, Edward Chang comes from a long line of Chinese chefs. His grandparents moved to India almost 100 years ago and have inspired two more generations of cooks since then.
“My parents and I moved throughout Europe, cooking in restaurants and learning the local language,” Edward says. “I can speak Hindi, Chinese, Swedish and English. I didn’t start in the restaurant industry – my grandparents did. I didn’t develop all of these recipes – a lot of them come from my grandparents!”
A long-time owner of local restaurants, Edward and his wife Lillian recently downsized from running two 150-seater restaurants to their new place, Chili House Restaurant. “It’s a smaller place, with only 50 seats, but that is good for us," Edward explains. "The overhead is lower and the quality control is greater.”
