For soccer and rugby players in North Vancouver, Macey's Sports has had shoes, jerseys and accessories covered since 1996. “We do soccer and rugby and a little bit of field hockey. We've got jerseys and caps, and also have some compression wear and heat care, which is related to all sports,” says Gary Bajwa, who took over the business in 2013 together with his partner, Yogi.
Inside the shop, the walls hold hundreds of styles of cleats, indoor shoes, jerseys, balls and accessories. In one corner is “the cage”, a shooting area, with soccer balls, surrounded by netting and with a goal painted on the wall at the far end. “The cage has been here for the longest time and it's a big attraction. People come here, try out their shoes. Kids come play while their parents are trying stuff on,” explains Gary. “We've been getting new customers and new teams every year. It's been a good experience,” he says of his time at Macey's.
