A former professional dancer, Jonathan Kane’s appreciation for the art of drinking fine tea began in Europe. “I was [a] continual tea drinker throughout my dancing career. I had an early allergy to coffee, so tea became my beverage of choice," says Jonathan, owner and creator of The Naked Leaf Tea Shop. “After retiring in 2008 from dancing and teaching at the conservatory level, I realized that I needed a change. It was time to create a tea shop that had what I want…I wanted to offer something a little different from what the other tea shops were offering.”

An awakening of all your senses, The Naked Leaf invites you to embark on a journey into the world of enjoying tea in the way it is meant to be enjoyed. From the moment you step inside the door, you are greeted with the delicious smells of the teas on brew and welcoming smiles from Jonathan and his team.

An inviting tea gallery with a local focus, The Naked Leaf showcases their premium selection of teas, including eight custom blends exclusive to the shop, in containers that you can open and smell. Once you find the perfect teas, with the help of Jonathan and his knowledgeable team, they are packed in tins with labels featuring works by Calgary artists. You can also find a unique selection of locally crafted products and tea-wares. In addition to taking your leaves home to steep, the welcoming space by the fireplace invites you to sit, relax and enjoy a pot of tea.
