What this bare-bones open-air patio lacks in ambiance it makes up for in notoriety. On any given warm day in Calgary, the Ship’s patio fills up with locals and regular patrons in the blink of an eye. We recommend claiming a spot early in the day to get the most of this pub’s vegan- and celiac-friendly eats and the spectacular people-watching that’s made possible by its 17 Avenue location.
The Ship and Anchor’s streetside patio on 17th Avenue Southwest is the best seat in the city for summer people watching. Daytime or evening, this is a sociable place to hunker down in good company at a no-frills picnic table with a pitcher of beer and a Ship Burger. During the pub’s live music performances the west side of the patio is a good listening post.
Saturday afternoons on the 17th Avenue Southwest strip take a musically creative turn at the Ship & Anchor Pub. Various artists host the open stage jam every Saturday afternoon from 2 pm to 6 pm. This well-attended weekly event typically features blues, folk and rock performers. Musicians are advised to bring their own guitars. Signup starts at 2 pm.
