A fourth-generation restaurateur, Maurizio Terrigno hails from a family of chefs and fine-dining restaurant owners. His mother, Antonietta, and father, Rocco, immigrated to Montreal from Italy in 1958, eventually moving to Calgary in 1976 and opening the Italian restaurant that would become Osteria de Medici.
Maurizio began his culinary career working in Osteria with his parents. He paid his dues, learning the industry ins and outs, until 2007 when a unique opportunity presented itself. A few of Osteria’s top clients expressed interest in receiving the same professional service and food on their private jets. “So we tried it out and it became evident that we did a very good job,” Maurizio recalls. “I said to my clients: if we can make magic out of a broom closet on a jet, imagine what we could do in your corporate office.”
From this experiment, Rocky Mountain Catering was born, bringing high-quality catering services to the skies, offices and anywhere else special occasions are held. Starting with just two jets, the catering company now serves more than 50 flying out of Calgary and another 20 out of Edmonton.
