Leanne Griffith has shown an innate ability to adapt to a changing business world. In 1995, she opened Flower Fusion. At the time, she also owned The Flower Jug and soon consolidated both businesses into one store. Seeing the onset of online shopping and how technology was being used, Leanne was smart enough to focus her business on the Internet only and became an “e-florist”.
“People do like the convenience of online shopping,” says Leanne. “When you can get flowers at a grocery store, there's less of a need for flower shops, so I take calls when a client needs someone to personally deliver them or for special occasions.” Having an online presence has meant making some changes to how she orders her product from BC and South America. “It changes in that everything is more specific, so we carry more product,” says Leanne.
“The floral industry is certainly a business where there is always something new and always something challenging. It’s very creative but it requires hard work.”
