Crabapple Clothing Company has been dressing Calgarians since 1990. The staff takes pride in their company and when the original owner decided to sell in 2010, two of the employees, Inge Leahy and Whitney Titheridge, decided to keep the store in familiar hands and bought it. “It was just circumstances,” says Inge. “It’s something that evolved,” adds Whitney. “Neither of us intended to take over. The opportunity presented itself and here we are.”
The pair has had to adjust to a rapidly changing industry since they took over. “We’ve grown and learned so much,” says Whitney. “It has changed drastically with big box stores and Internet shopping coming in. We are still trying to find that niche and provide excellent customer service. We have tried to diversify and try different things and it’s been going well.”
