Come taste an appetizing creation at Cafe Koi. Come recline on their terrace under the sun. They are open at night from Monday to Saturday. You can get there by bicycle. The surrounding area is remarkable for its restaurants, merchants and parks.
Is your beau a little hip? Enjoy a vegetarian meal while listening to local performers at Café Koi. Nestled in Victoria Park, dimly lit and uber cool, Café Koi offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options alongside typical Asian-fusion meaty dishes. Start with their pan-seared ginger tofu, then move onto a black bean Buddha burger topped with extra veggies and a side of roasted yams. Other options include super salads served with flatbread, and bursting bowls of greens, seasonal veggies and optional tofu, all drizzled with to-die-for sauces.
Sing your version of Ruby Tuesday or any other songs you fancy at Café Koi’s open mic on Tuesday nights. Hosted by Carla Olive, the open mic runs from 8 pm to 11 pm, at club and eatery just south of the downtown core on First Street Southwest. Registration begins at 8 pm, and the café supplies guitars, keyboards, cables, mics, speakers, monitors and a sound person. Musicians are welcome to bring their own guitars, and all musical genres are encouraged. Café Koi is drum friendly and licensed.
Are you looking for animal-free Asian fusion? You won’t find many restaurants like this one in Calgary, and Koi has some very delicious dishes on its menu. The Buddha bowl is particularly popular among regulars as it’s a complete meal in one bowl. Also try the amazing coconut curry, or just order a drink and enjoy the venue’s regular live musical performances.
